ISPM15
International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems.
ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnages, etc.) for export.
For exports of timber packaging from the UK, the Forestry Commission (Great Britain) and Forest Service (Northern Ireland) have established The United Kingdom Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme (UKWPMMP) to help manufacturers demonstrate compliance with ISPM15.
The United Kingdom Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme regulates the heat treatment of timber, manufacture, repair, recycling and remanufacture of ISPM15 compliant products in the United Kingdom and it is administered by the Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation (TIMCON).
CATG are one of the independent assessment agencies approved by the Forestry Commission for carrying out assessments as required under the UK Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme.
